Adolescence has always been an important time of tremendous change.Yet the changes can be extremely overwhelming for teens and their parents. In times past people addressed the importance of this phase of life by creating rites-of-passage that would help adolescents navigate the often stormy journey into adulthood. In modern times we have all but forgotten these supportive methods of transition and passage.

What is the Journey?

The Journey is a rite-of-passage experience which draws upon modern and timeless themes unique to adolescence. It is an inner adventure which helps teens find confidence, develop character and discover meaning and purpose in their lives as they undergo one of the most challenging experiences life has to offer.

The program asks teens to look at their life as a journey. Problems along the way become challenges and opportunities for personal development. It utilizes creative techniques such as:

Mask Making
Guided Imagery
Storytelling
Improvisational theater
Drawing
Multi-media
Music

A supportive group atmosphere encourages trust, acceptance and respect as teens share their rite-of-passage journey together. The program consists of 5 stages, each 8 hours long. It can be done in a week long retreat or spread out over several weekends. Participants are encouraged to relate the program material to their own experience and discover their own answers.

Currently, we offer the Journey process to pre-established groups only (for example, churches, temples, schools, groups of friends, clubs). To inquiry about rates, registration, and scheduling a Journey for your group send e-mail to thejourney@lifepassage.com or call (650) 306-8188.
